Fenugreek

Adding Flavour To Your Life!

It not only sounds unusual, but it is... UNUSUALLY HEALTHY!

Why, you might ask?

Fenugreek, also known as methi, is widely regarded as one of the world's top superfoods. This adaptable herb, spice, and vegetable is a sweet and binding spice that adds flavour to your food. It may taste like burnt sugar at first, but once you try it, you will be aromatically enlightened!

Fenugreek's dried leaves and aromatic seeds are also used in a variety of herbal medicines.  Fenugreek contains an abundance of vitamins and minerals, including:

  • Vitamin B1, B2, B3 & B6

  • Vitamin C

  • Calcium

  • Iron

  • Magnesium

  • Manganese

Almost everyone, from diabetics to heart patients, are encouraged to include fenugreek in their diet. This clover-like herb was derived from the Near East and has been used since ancient times. Traces of dried out fenugreek seeds were even found in the tomb of Tutankhamen! Fenugreek is also filled with soluble dietary fibre to keep your tummy smiling :)

Fenugreek For Digestion

Because of its high fibre content and anti-inflammatory properties, it is a popular remedy for treating digestion and improving the overall health of digestive systems.

Fenugreek is beneficial for people who suffer from digestive issues such as:

  • Indigestion

  • Gastritis

  • Constipation

  • Stomach Inflammation

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Fenugreek For Inflammation

In addition to having potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities, fenugreek mucilage has been shown to be effective in fighting inflammation both inside and outside the body.

When used topically, fenugreek is beneficial in the treatment of:

  • Wounds

  • Gout

  • Muscle discomfort and swelling

  • Dandruff

  • And other inflammatory disorders

At the same time, it is an active element in the treatment of arthritis and the prevention of additional arthritis-related inflammation.

Fenugreek For Cholesterol

Fenugreek is beneficial in the prevention of cardiovascular disease since it lowers cholesterol levels in the body. Galactomannan, a type of amino acid that has been related to a reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease, accounts about 25% of fenugreek.

Fenugreek lowers the risk of:

  • Developing blood clots

  • Heart attacks

  • Strokes

Fenugreek For Diabetes

Because of the presence of the fibre galactomannan, fenugreek benefits those with type II diabetes. It slows the rate at which sugar enters the bloodstream. A specific amino acid in fenugreek can regulate insulin release, significantly improving overall body functioning.

Fenugreek also:

  • Slows down the absorption of carbohydrates

  • Enhances glucose tolerance

  • Alleviates metabolic symptoms related to diabetes
