Rosehip & Chamomile
Are you feeling the burn of everyday life, as well as the added stresses brought by work and all your other responsibilities? May we help you release your burdens?
Let’s start by creating an image in your mind…
See yourself sitting back, feet up, with cushions perfectly placed to cradle all the stressed parts of your body. Maybe a book in your lap? Or a cat? The lighting is calm, and you have some soothing sounds playing in the background. Now let’s put a tea-cup or lovely mug in your hands. Hold the cup up closer to your face… and the harmonious aromas of sweet Chamomile, tangy Rosehip, and other lovingly chosen flowers and spices waft up to greet you. You take that first sip and sigh in relief, snuggling even further down as you feel the weight of the world slip away…
Aaaahhhh…. right?
The word Chamomile is synonymous with calm
And the good news is: even if this is happening during your daily bustle, and even if you only had time for the actual tea - you would still get all the benefits!
The word Chamomile is synonymous with calm. Add sweet and tangy Rosehip and you have a deliciously comforting tea blend that is healthy and delicious. This is our organic Chamomile Rosehip Tea Blend! Enjoy it hot, iced, plain or with a bit of milk and/or honey to change up the flavor profile.

Chamomile Flowers:
These sweet, small daisy-like plants come from the family Asteraceae. The types of chamomile used for tea are German chamomile (Matricaria recutita) and Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile).
Chamomile makes for a gentle beverage, completely caffeine free with a light and subtly sweet taste. It is a supportive herb, suitable for all ages.
The science behind chamomile includes a flavonoid called apigenin, that binds to receptors in the brain, to induce calm. There are also bitter compounds called cesquiterpene lactones, these cause the pancreas to produce digestive juices. Further to that….
Chamomile Contains:
Vitamin C
Calcium
Copper
Zinc
Iron
Enzymes
Terpenoids
Flavonoids
Lactones
Chamazulene
And many other compounds too science-y to name!
Rose Hip / Rosehips:
A rose by any other name, as the bard decreed, smells as sweet!
You can call this aromatic tea ingredient rose hip, rosehip, rose haw, rose hep, dog rose fruit, hipberry, or hip fruit. Or you can call by its glorious Latin name: Rosa Canina. Sounds so romantic.
Rosehips are the accessory fruiting body of the rose plant (not part of the actual flower). They are the part of the rose flower just below the petals, that contain the rose plant seeds. They are typically shades of red that grow into orange, but can also be all kinds of dark purple, and even black.
There are two main types of rose hip seeds used to make tea: Rosa rugosa and Rosa canina. Like chamomile, rose hip tea is naturally caffeine-free, so you can sip into the evening.
Rosehips, with their delicately floral in flavour, have a tart aftertaste that makes you smack your lips. Their flavor is similar to green apples, ripe plums, and hibiscus tea. Rose hips can be eaten raw, like berries, and are used in so many varied foods: breads, pies, jams, jellies and marmalades. They are also used in soups, wines and other drinks… like tea.
Studies show that taking rosehip can reduce pain and joint stiffness. It is reported one single dose of rosehip extract can reduce pain and the need for medications after surgery. When we at Taka Turmeric became (rose)hip to the benefits of this botanical, we knew we had to use it!
